Singles and/or Divorced

Are you:

> Not sure how to find the right person?
> Having difficulty establishing a satisfying, committed relationship?
> Feeling hopeless about ever getting into a good      relationship?

We can help you have a more fulfilling, happy and passionate life starting today.

The Relationship Center of Michigan offers the Relationship Advice program. We can help you to:

Through coaching and individual counseling we have helped many over the years to gain a more satisfying relationship. The Relationship Advice program involves a one-on-one session with a counselor. It can be accomplished either by:

An office visit, or

A session over the phone.

Phone sessions are an attractive option for those with busy schedules. This option provides greater efficiency for your limited time. Travel time to the office is eliminated. Either way, sessions are scheduled to meet your needs. Confidentiality is maintained. A focus on your needs is assured.

Your Advisor will have either a Ph.D. or a Masters Degree, and have a special interest and training in relationships. The focus is up to you. It can be about romantic interests, children, co-workers, friends or anyone else. You decide how much advising you want or need and schedule your time accordingly.

You might want to develop a Dating Plan, based on your unique characteristics. You can review your progress periodically with your Advisor and make changes as necessary to reach your goals. If you are already in a relationship but not sure about commitment, your Advisor can help you review the entire relationship in light of your past relationships. Your Advisor will help to ensure that you are compatible, and that you are not missing any important points.

Your Advisor will also help you identify your strengths and help you with your weaknesses by identifying areas in which you might need additional training. You can set up goals and use your Advisor to help you with accountability.

The Relationship Advice program is NOT therapy. Some people need therapy to help remove blocks which have been created in their families of origin or in past dysfunctional relationships. Others need to work on depression or anxiety, which they can do through therapy. It is difficult and sometimes frustrating to have an important goal and not reach it. Your Relationship Advisor is an expert on motivation and change. He or she can help you deal with these challenges in a positive way so that you can reach your goals quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Length of Advising: Advising is usually time-limited and ends when your relationship goals have been met.  Because we have many years of experience, we have almost certainly dealt with any relationship or couples' issues you may have.

Choosing an Advisor: Unfortunately, advisors are like car mechanics (or any other professional): some are good and some are merely ok. Look for a therapist who takes the time and effort to pay attention to you. Do they return phone calls promptly? Is he or she willing to talk to you prior to your making an appointment? How do the therapist and the support staff sound on the phone? Are they friendly? Do they give you a feeling that they can be trusted?

Ask the advisor how they do work. After the first session or two, do you feel that you can trust the him or her? Is there a match between your personalities? Sometimes your personality will not match up with your advisor's. People are just different, through no fault of their own. If you are not comfortable, it is better to look for a better match. For that matter, it is ok to interview more than one person before you settle on someone.

Since 1997, we have helped singles and couples solve their problems and gain happy, satisfying relationships.
